Loved it!! I can’t believe I never read it. I don’t know why I never did. All of the stories are wonderful on so many levels. The straight forward wonderful fantasy world that Lewis presents, there is beautiful scenery and unique creatures to imagine galore. The characters are so easy to take in and are very genuine. Then you have the awesome Christian undertones. What I found so incredible about this is that you could read the whole series and not even notice the analogies, or if you were already familiar with Christianity you could see its story and truths shining thru on every page. Another thing I loved was the books invoked emotion. The stories get you involved and I found myself feeling sadness, fear, joy and love right along with the characters.

I think my favorite book in the series is Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The character of Repicheep is so entertaining. The bravest most ethical and forthright mouse you will ever come across. But by far my most favorite part was at the end when Lucy, Edmund and Eustace sail to the end of the world and meet Aslan in a field of lilys. The tenderness and love Lucy shows for Aslan and the utter sorrow she feels at having to leave him is so powerful. It brought me to tears.

I very highly recommend the entire Chronicles of Narnia to all my friends. It is a classic that should not be missed and a must for your library. I would really like to have a beautiful collectors edition for my shelves.

While I try to read a wide range of literature, this is one that is rather different than my norm. Typically when I’m picking up a new novel off the best sellers rack I go for the typical murder/law mystery that floods the market. When I get lucky there is one there that incorporates some aspect of an ancient civilization or science oriented topic. But what I usually avoid, is anything that looks particularly girly, mushy or romantic. I can’t stomach romance novels. I decided to give this girly looking book a try because I was in the mood for something different.
The Devil Wears Prada was a light, surprisingly fun and entertaining read. The characters in the book are likeable and fairly realistic. I consider this a light read because I didn’t get the sad feeling I get many times when I finish a book. Sad because it’s over, there is no more, how can there not be more – I’m not done being mentally drawn in to the characters’ world and don’t feel ready to give them up! I liked the look into the high fashion industry this book presented. It is not something I have ever been terribly interested in or known much about. Now don’t mis-interpret this, I like being fashionable – but the world in The Devil is a whole different ball game. It is the world of $2000 Gucci pants and $1000 Jimmy Choo shoes. Side note – after reading the book I’m sure I need a pair of those shoes! The real focus of the book is the crazy, harsh fashion guru magazine editor boss that the main character Andrea becomes an assistant for – but it’s all the behind the scenes fashion world that you see thru Andrea’s eyes that makes the book fun. I didn’t feel a lot of build up with the story. The book seemed to go on for some time just talking about the day to day activities without really reaching towards an obvious goal.
