Tox`oph´i`lite -n. a lover of archery, one devoted to archery.

When I was young my dad was a Boy Scout leader. He used to take his troop way out in the back of our 1/2 acre back yard and teach them archery. I loved it because I would go out and shoot with them, and I was better than them all! What a great feeling to show up a bunch of silly boys like that! I’ve been trying to rekindle my interest as of late with my extra free time. A few weekends ago I bought a new bow. Although it wasn’t quite what I had in mind, it is a very nice re-curve bow with a pretty wooden grip and fiber glass curves. The beautiful all wood one I had my eye on is $800, so I decided to pass on that one for now. lol Also a few weekends ago I visited a brand new archery shop in town. They say it is the largest one in the west. It really is a great store. Walls full of traditional bows, compound bows, hunting accessories, target shooting accessories, carrying cases, books, magazines, dvds and more and more… They also have a shooting range. I’m hoping to take some classes there soon. In the back they have all kinds of arrow making equipment. And of course they sell all the products to make your own arrows if you would like to be a fletcher. For anyone in the Abq area who as the slightest interest, or who needs a new hobby lol, I would highly recommend a visit to the Archery Shoppe located at 2910 Carlisle NE.

I’m looking forward to spending more time shooting and improving my technique. I already have plans for the next bow I want to buy. Plus, it gives me some great quality time with my dad. He really enjoys shooting with me and we have a good time.
