DaVinci Delay?

Monday, February 27th, 2006

I just read a news article discussing a lawsuit being brought against Dan Brown, the author of the very popular book, “The DaVinci Code”. The allegations are ridiculous. The suing parties wrote another book, “The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail” (Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh) which they say Brown used for the basis of his book. So what? I would think that authors get ideas and inspiration from their own life experiences, combined with their imagination; which may well have included reading said other book. The article doesn’t say if Brown sited the book as a reference or not, but I would imagine that a possibility. What bothered me most about the article is the mention that this law suit may delay the release of The DaVinci Code movie. I enjoyed the book and have been looking forward to the movie for some time. I’m certainly hoping this uncalled for lawsuit doesn’t cause that delay. What do you think about these allegations?

Two New Cars & Another Weekend

Monday, February 27th, 2006

This weekend we bought another new car! Since I hadn’t started my website yet, I haven’t written about our recent car accident and new car that resulted from that. You can read all about the accident here on Brian’s site. After our old car was totaled, we bought a shiny new Honda Pilot that I absolutely love. This weekend we bought a shiny new Honda Civic. We actually don’t have it yet because it’s still at the factory. It should be here within 2 weeks max, but really hoping it will get here within a week. Having two reliable cars is something we haven’t had in a while and I can’t wait!

In WoW news, I have been such a slacker just sitting at 40 and riding around on my mount. This weekend I finally played a lil and got up to 41. Check out my character profile on Allakhazam, a most useful WoW site. All my friends who play WoW should download the WoW reader from Allakhazam, it’s what allows you to have your profile on the website. My primary goal in playing this weekend was to go to Uldaman and get my master enchanter training. Some friends took me in, so it was pretty easy and we actually made it all the way through the end of the instance. I had been waiting so long for my training, that I had three full bags of enchanting materials to work with. Of course I didn’t make any money off of it, but I am up to skill level of 240 and getting closer to learning some good money making enchants.

On Sunday my family came over for dinner. I cooked a huge meal that was a big hit, the most cooking I’ve done in a long time! I’m going to try and cook all week, hopefully that will actually happen. I bought a huge bouncy ball for my nephew to play with when he came over, so he spent the whole evening throwing it at our heads and rolling around on it. Luckily no items or people were injured lol.

Winner!

My company always seems to be running different contests and competitions, but I’ve never been that lucky at any of them. Not that I haven’t been well taken care of, just not that lucky. The most significant prize I had won, until today, was a free turkey. How funny is that huh? About five years ago at Christmas time, they were doing drawings for gift certificates for turkeys and I was one of the lucky winners. Today my luck changed though. This month at work they doing some campaign called something like Fit in February. Various gyms are coming in and distributing information and having some drawings. Today Curves was in. I stopped by on a whim. I’ve never been particularly drawn to the Curves method, but exercise has been on my mind so figured I would check it out and throw my name in the drawing. About one hour later I was surprised to find out I had won! And it’s not some cheesy free trial membership at Curves, it is a whole year of free membership! Here’s to looking more curvaceous in the coming free year!

Not Peach Frilly and Hideous

Last weekend Brian and I were both in our friend’s wedding. More to come about the wedding when I get some time, but I liked this picture of us so thought I would put it up. I really liked our bridesmaid dresses. A very nice cut and color, unlike many other bridesmaid dress horror stories you may hear.

The First One

So I’ve never been succesful at keeping a paper journal, I wonder how I’ll do with a digital version. I have a couple of friends that I read their blogs regularly, so I figured it was time for me to jump on the band wagon and try it out. Plus, since I have become even more nerdy as of late by playing World of Warcraft I might actually have something more to talk about. I think my posts will be fairly random and not to interesting. Things that come to mind about what’s going on in my life. Maybe on occasion a few people may even read it! lol

This week at work I’m working an odd schedule, 130pm to 1030pm. It’s not bad really, would be ok if it was what I was use to working, but since I have to switch alot between schedules it is kinda tough. And really, the team I’m working with doesn’t need me, so it gets pretty boring. I’m on my lunch break now and decided I would try and get something up here. Really I would rather be at home getting some stuff done. Today before I left for work I was actually in a cleaning mood, which was good because there’s piles of junk and laundry everywhere. I didn’t get anything done really, but at least I went grocery shopping so my poor lonely husband at home will have something to eat. Lunch hour is just about over. Better go back out there and try to do some work.
